Owner / Master Stylist
After graduating from Empire Beauty School more than 20 years ago, Christi jumped into her career, constantly striving to improve her skills and polish her style. She came to believe in the importance of really listening to her clients and continues to attend education events to give her the tools and techniques necessary to create a style that suits each client’s hair texture, styling abilities and lifestyle. Growing concerns about the impact of the hair industry on the planet and health of stylists lead Christi to choose hair care brands that were people and planet friendly without sacrificing performance. Fringe carries Eufora and Kevin Murphy. Opening Fringe Hair Studio has given Christi the opportunity to create a place where she can provide the best possible experience for her clients and fellow team members. In her spare time Christi enjoys reading and hanging out with her dog Henry. Follow her on Instagram @fringeonthesquare.
Maura wanted to work for Disney’s ink and paint department when she was a kid, coloring their animation. Color, and any form of art, has always been an obsession. Now she has living canvases in her clients. She counts herself blessed that she is inspired everyday and gets to play with color, sculpt an wedding updo, freshen up or create a whole new style with a haircut. Because that truly is an art. You’ll notice her hair is never the same, which is why she loves fashion colors, they change every time you wash it. It matches her personality - constantly changing. And you never know if she’ll have her hair straight or rock her crazy natural curls. Maura has been in the industry since 1997 and has no plans to leave. Her two sons grew up in the salons she’s worked in and now her twin granddaughters visit her as well. Follow her on Instagram @craftbeercolorist.
Rachel has been a hairstylist for over four years, working in the north end of Boston and downtown Portsmouth, NH. While hairstyling is Rachel’s creative expression, she really enjoys building a relationship with her clients and creating a customized experience tailored to each client's needs and desires. She values continuing her education to keep her skills sharpened and on trend to offer her clients the latest techniques and styles. Her favorite things to do behind the chair are customized colors and blondes through blending different techniques and applications, as well as precise men’s cuts and fades. Rachel is very selective with the products she uses to keep a pleasant and luxurious experience for all her guests, choosing an ammonia-free color line and non-toxic, naturally based haircare and styling products. She looks forward to meeting you and helping you achieve your ultimate hair goals! Follow her on Instagram @hair_by_rachelstarr.
Alana has been working as a stylist in downtown Portsmouth for 3 years now and is the newest addition to Fringe. She is as passionate a person as they come and you can see why she has created quite the following despite only having been behind the chair for 5 years. Alana has taken advanced courses in many aspects of hair, however her favorites include balayage/hand painting, color correction, natural texture, and Sakasama, a Japanese hair cutting technique. Alana dedicates herself to the work she does and it shows in her ability to understand both her clients needs and wants. She works her magic and the result is a truly custom look. When Alana is not dressing hair she can be found belting out showtunes with her parrot George, playing detective by consuming any and all forms of true crime, or beating her husband at Trivial Pursuit.
